My story cannot be told without including my wife and best friend Jessica. Without her help and support, none of this would be possible. Together we have been able to take our love for food and turn it into a family business where we can share our passion and flavorful delights with others.
In 2017 I brought home a couple of plants from a local business and to our surprise we didn’t kill them. Turns out we love to watch things grow. We wanted to learn more so we enrolled in horticulture and organic farming classes at the local college. We started growing better quality produce and larger quantities with many different varieties of fruits and vegetables. We were so successful that we began to produce more than we could eat or give away and decided to try canning to preserve our harvest. We started with pickles and salsa and shared them with our family and friends.
Most everyone said that this was good enough to sell. So, we took a chance and started selling at the local farmers market and our success has led to the launch of our family business. The rest of the story is yet to be lived.
PS. The story behind SHH……
When we moved to our 2-acre property we wanted to raise our own food. We thought we’d try chickens or goats or pigs, but we weren’t prepared for that type of noisy food. That’s when we decided to become gardeners and grow quiet food. Hence the name SHH – The Quiet Food.

For the past 50 years I have been a visual and performing artist. Born and raised in Pine Mountain Georgia, I migrated to New York and had my way with the city. I had my first group art show there in Lincoln Center’s Cork Gallery at Avery Fisher hall and sold the one painting I had in the show to a German tourist. It was magical. I worked professionally as an actor, singer, dancer in film, television, and touring companies. I was fortunate enough to work with Rob Marshall, Tim Robbins, Savion Glover, Cleo King, Vanessa Redgrave, Dick Clark, Maurice Hines, Freda Payne, Doris Troy, and countless other amazing professionals.
I was a member of the West Side Art Coalition in New York City for many years. I discovered how much I loved Arizona while on a national tour of Jelly’s Last Jam at the Gammage Auditorium. I thought I would retire here one day, but after the World Trade Center disaster, my husband and I decided it was time to move to Arizona early.
I started my own business, Henwak Gallery, where I design my own creations and some of my art can be seen and purchased on my website www.HenwakGallery.com .

My Happy Hobby My name is Pamela Liuzzo and I have lived in Prescott Valley, AZ. since 1975. I’m a proud graduate of Bradshaw Mountain High School (go bears!) and so are my two children. My husband, Tom and I have been married for almost 30 years and we both love this incredible town. My Happy Hobby started with a desire to create gifts for friends and family that would be unique and specific to their personalities and likes. Once I got started, I realized how much I love creating something that people will cherish for years to come. I am also a wine lover so being able to upcycle the empty bottles into something completely different from its original purpose is rewarding as well. Before you ask, no, I did not drink all the wine out of the bottles that I made into wind chimes. I thankfully have friends who generously donate as well as some local wineries. Hi, my name is Debbie, and I have a problem. I’m addicted to junk. I can’t pass up an estate sale, rummage sale, overfilled dumpster, or a friend with a bag of cast-offs! Got any good junk? I bet I can make something out of it!
I am obsessed with Fauxbots—found object ‘robots’ that depict people or animals. While they are called robots, they actually don’t DO anything but bring a smile to your face.
My goal is to make each ‘bot’ have a charming and whimsical personality. This isn’t always easy when working with nuts, bolts, odd bits of machinery and kitchen tools, but it works when the shape of the object brings to mind a similar shape in nature.
Many people assume the ‘bots’ are welded together, but in fact I use lots of cold connections—rivets, screws, wire, plumbing connectors, and a bit of epoxy. It’s fun for me to introduce my little ‘friends’ and watch people try to analyze what the parts used to be.
I really love taking things that might have ended up in a landfill and giving them a new life. Some call it recycling, I call it fun!

Karen graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree and, later, with a Master of Science degree from California Polytechnic University. She began working with acrylic on fabric, wood, and paper along with design in the 1970’s but did not pursue her artistic passion full time until the early 2000’s. By then, she had moved to Prescott, AZ and studied under many well-known local artists, including Linne Thomas, Betty Carr, Chris Saper, Ernie Wallace, and Dana Cohn among others.Karen’s first love is watercolor because of the fluidity of the paint and the natural blending of the colors which adds dimension and interest to each piece. Adding acrylic painting and mixed media collage to her repertoire has given her a wider perspective and continues to add to her body of work, much of which is totally abstract. Because creating with color is a passion with Karen, she also began designing a line of jewelry with a European flair. She believes that when an artist continues creating, her work improves. Mark started doing birdhouses after her retired. His co-workers bought him a set of woodworking tools as a retirement gift and Whimsical Creations was born. Mark has always had a Whimsical flare and been very creative. He makes bird houses, and a variety of other items centered around fairy houses or whatever his mood strikes when in the shop. He puts a Whimsical or country twist to what he does and will tell you he doesn't care if a bird really goes into the houses or not. He did his research though, and the hole is regulation to small birds.
Some are distinctive to inside decorations and others withstand the AZ sun. Look for new and different items in the store.
Sherri retired in 2019 and after a 40+ year hiatus returned to her ceramic business. She has always done ceramics in her own shop, and now creates just for fun, mostly holiday and seasonal items.
We no longer have a kiln or pour our own molds, but the love of creating and making special items is alive and well. Gnomes are a hit, so look for new ones when you come in. Inventory for the most part is one of a kind. If you are looking for something special, please ask. We can do custom items.

My name is Melinda and my first garden, in 2020, consisted of vegetables and flowers that I bought from a big box store, planted into burlap lined craft crates and filled with soil. It was during this time when I became a 'gardener' and I realized that you don't need a 'perfect' garden to produce food, beauty and joy.
In 2022 I grew my first selection of specialty cut flowers and quickly realized that the intense sun in Prescott's high altitude produced flowers with beautiful blooms, but short stems. Instead of fussing over my perceived failure, I decided to embrace the petite blooms and I started to create pretty posies. And that, my dear friends, is how 'ThePosy.Co' was born.
If I'm not out in the garden, I'm fussing over my wonderful houseplants. As much as I love the 'life' that the houseplants bring to my home, I couldn't find clay pots that I found beautiful and interesting. Therefore, I started to design my own clay pots which you can find as ThePosy.Co House Plant Cottage Series... a perfect blend of nature and vintage beauty.

Hi, I’m Diana Svaleng, a native of Arizona and have lived in northern Arizona for over 30 years. I worked in Early Childhood Education for 28 years primarily as a teacher and education mentor and currently work full-time as a mentor and coach to teachers of children ages 1-5.
I have always been a creative person with my main artistic interests being watercolor painting and crochet. I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember and I have been crocheting since I was 12 years old.
I began Designs by Diana to show my art publicly and fund my creative passions. A lot of my crochet items are worked freestyle. In other words, I create it as I go along. My inspiration for my painting is Arizona and my love for nature. My crochet is inspired by many things including my grandchildren’s interests. I also like a challenge to create new items and have thought of “out of the box” things to aid teachers with their classrooms. I strive for a fun, beautiful world for everyone.
